The National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC), a Federally Funded Research and Development Center, is managed and operated by Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC (BNBI) for the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS/S&T) as part of contract HSHQDC-15-C-00064. BNBI is committed to protecting the privacy of its website users. This privacy policy explains the types of information collected from site visitors, and how BNBI uses that information. The use of the BNBI website constitutes acceptance of this policy.
Information Collected from Web Traffic Reporting Tools
When users visit the BNBI website, the website server logs basic information about each visit. BNBI processes this information via automated software tools to identify any site performance issues, popular sections and contents, and other important site characteristics. This information does not identify you personally. This information is used only as a source of anonymous statistical information. We may store such information ourselves, or it may be included in databases owned and maintained by our service providers.
BNBI also uses a free, third-party software service called Google Analytics to capture and analyze website usage information. This service supplies us with non-personally identifiable information about BNBI’s website users. Information Collected from Email and Web Forms
Users may contact BNBI electronically. By doing so, you may be sending us personal information (e.g., name, address, email address). BNBI may share the information you provide to us via email within the corporation to provide the best possible response to your queries, but we do not provide information to anyone outside of the corporation unless required by law to do so. We will never share your information with a third party for any commercial purpose. However, you should be aware that email to some destination addresses may be archived, possibly in a way visible to the public. Unless you have reliable information to the contrary, you should never assume the email you send is confidential or temporary.
Information Collected from Employment Applications
Users may apply for employment at BNBI from within the Careers section of our website, using the systems of one of our vendors. The information you supply is collected by our vendor and accessed by our vendor and BNBI during the application process. Information Collected from Third Party Software
When users visit the BNBI website, users may link to third party software when they link to another party’s website. BNBI does not collect any information that may be collected by the third party. Cookies
Parts of the BNBI website may use cookies to improve your experience and to track transactions while you are online. A cookie contains information that is either stored in your computer’s memory, or in a file on your computer’s hard disk. BNBI Cookies stored in your computer’s memory are automatically removed when you quit your browser. BNBI Cookies stored in a file on your computer’s hard disk will have an expiration date after which time they will no longer be valid.
