The NBACC “has played a key role in America’s response to the Nation’s most difficult public health and biodefense challenges,” according to DHS, including the 2014 response to Ebola and the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

The money came from the Battelle National Biodefense Institute, which manages Fort Detrick’s National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center, and awards annual grants to FCPS teachers.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D) announced Thursday he secured millions in federal funding for the National Biodefense Analysis Countermeasures Center at Fort Detrick, among other state programs, in the proposed Fiscal 2019 Homeland Security Appropriations Act.
